House 22

This renovation of a classic French-style home was all about ensuring that this house truly functions as the “heart of the family” - a safe space where everyone can enjoy meeting together. Through our designs we created a comfortable day-to-day living space for the whole family, while also keeping the extended family and larger circle in mind.

The connections between different rooms and living spaces were designed to create clear differentiation between formal and informal spaces, which are connected via internal sliding panel doors. We also incorporated enhanced security between the upstairs and downstairs spaces into our design.

2019 - 2020

Because it was important to us to connect all of the home’s little details well, there is also an interior designer on this project.

Comfort and safety were our main considerations. The ceiling was created in such a way that electronic curtains or shutters could be incorporated, while a laundry chute runs directly from the main en-suite bathroom into the laundry room for ease of access.

Entertaining spaces have been created for formal and informal gatherings with both an industrial (cooking) kitchen and a presentation (family) kitchen available for use. Other spaces that up the house’s comfort level are a butler’s pantry and a mud room! Platform Architects is contract managing this build.
